Eagle Cap Trip
Well worth its weight in Granite,
1st day arrived late afternoon, needed to purchase annual forrestry permit, a tough find for sure, spent 2 hours trying to find one, forestry service closed on weekends, found the permit at a bowhunting sports store. Arrived at Two Pan Trailhead, where we packed in 6 miles. We set up camp in a large meadow with creek running through it. The sun had set and we knew it was going to be a cold one, the next morning our thermometer read 28 degrees, but that was the coldest morning we had to deal with the rest of trip, Thank God. 2nd day we paqcked up too Moquasin Lake where we fished a great deal of day. Later that afternoon we packed up 2 miles above the lake basin and set camp for evening. It was an excellent place to view the entire valley that was carved thousands of years ago by glacier movement. That eve. a hiker moved in and went to gather a drink from lake, and he fell into lake , whick was freezing cold,we went to his rescue, and he didn't want our assistance. so we kept an eye on him, pretty strange character, didn't want him going postal on us.
Next morning woke up to the smell of smoke, there was a forest fire, and looked like it was coming from the other side of ridge, So we decided to best climb up Eagle Cap at 10.552 ft. quite a climb without our 60 lb. packs, on our accent the winds really shifted 180, and by the time we arrived to top the fire had blown itself out , by going back to its origin. Talk about luck. We caught fish the next day rather big headed Brook Trout with small bodies, We didn't eat them kind of small. Next day we went to another valley 12 miler into the blue lake and morine lk. area, quite a different place with more trees and greener valley. we set up camp for evening, and fished with great sucess 12 inch brookies and very good eats, with garlic mashed potatoes. all in all it was a wonderful 4 day trip, with 60 miles of grat hiking up and down terrain, some trails very advanced, yet some very well maintained. Got home just in time to say goodbye to Nancy and Jen, and Phil. They are now in Georgetown with Libby and Bill. Hope you guys are having a great trip, see you when you come back this weekend, miss ya bunches Tucker and I are doing fine. By the way M.L. and Jeff plan a big Barn warming Sept 29th. so mark it on your calendar. and see you soon. Pat

Planning a week trip later to Eagle Cap Wilderness in N/E. Oregon Sept. 7. I will return home and Nancy and girls, along with Phil will leave for D.C. for there week.Wish I could be there also, but someone has to watch after the animals, and homestead. I might take day trips to coast to surf, Got new board and wetsuit, I am excited to get out and try my 9footer longboard tri-scag. Sum-Sum-Summertime
Howdy All,
Had a wonderful week vacation at eaglecrest last week. Fishing was great, Phi caught the most fisk , While Garrett caught 3 bass, his first ever!!! HOORAY!!! We dropped Phil of at the park where girls where waiting to feed him, and Ryan,Garrett, and I went back to the marina to deliver the boat, where we encountered a rock, stopped us dead cold there, crusing from 8 miles an hour to a dewad stop, ouch, no major damage. I must say they need to put buoys closer for that below the surface rock formation. We went the next day to the Dobbies Bros concert, and it was a rocking show. We went rafting and had a great lunch on mirror pond at pinecone tavern, our favorite place to eat in Bend. Golfed with Ryan at the challenge course, at eagle crest, we swqam at numerous pools, and rode bikes and the such , and basically R/R the whole week. Back to work we are, catching up on HVAC problems , but just about getting them caught up. The family is getting ready for a float trip tommorow after work to break up the week, IT'S SUMMER!!! Enjoy It , I'm planning a surfing safari as soon as my new wetsuit comes in. I just bought a new 9'1" long board tri-scag dying to get wet. Anyway things are moving, and so are we. Stay in touch, and Surfs Up, P.C.

3 Sisters Backpack Trip
Yoah-De Lady- Who!!!! That's right Saturday went to the cascade hwy. east entry to south sisters , packed in with a coleague from work who had prior experience to the asent of the 10.000 plus climb to the crest of middle sister. It took 5 hours to reach the top, about 1000 ft. per mile, but well worth every bit of the trip. I am training for a week trip too Eagle Cap wilderness in Sept. so I figured I better start very soon. It was a last minute choice to do this trip, but I am glad to say I survived the 20 milerplus, started at 3:30 , got home that eve. 8:30p.m. a very full day. Next time will do this trip in 2 days. Really should acclamate to the altitude. We decended down through the ice fields going to green lakes, My first time ever GLISADING down 1000s of ft. at a time. Many spectacles along the way, Waterfalls creeks, Giant Obsedian size of 12ft+ and many colorful rock, Stopped at a ledge for lunch overlooking Green Lakes , absolutly brilliant, never seen that color of green. Walked through many streams to get onto the main trail too our put out on the main Hwy. I'd say this was at least 20 miles, and we still had to get too our car , which was another 3 miles walk, it seemed forever, I will remember this journey forever, and will attempt again, although I will be better prepared next time. The view atop the valcano was unimagineable, and you can see forever at that height, viewing the majestic peaks, clear blue lakes, and flower filled meadows.... Truly one of my all time great ventures, and it was only 1 day trip!!!! Always Clogging Cueto

Our 30th Anniversary Trip
Weekend in Wine country,
Twas nice to break out into a different seen. Never stayed in McMinville, but it was totally a blast. We stayed at Mcmenamins Hotel Oregon, A really fun place in the heart of old town Mcminville. Lots to see in such a small area. Friday enjoyed listening to music by a great group called BINGO. and down in the cellar was a female soloist who sang Folk type music upbeat and fun with mugs of grog, and wiskey samplers... We went down to Lincoln city Sat. morn. and had breakfast at the Spanish Head, great view from 10th floor of restraunt, and then along stroll down the beach and played in the tide pools. After a long day of major shopping for kids and grand kids, we headed back to Mcmenville via Sheridan , and took in the festivities of there Parade and carnival.... Made it back to Mcminville after a scary incident on way between sheridan and mcminville on 99w a older lady say 75 was out driving under the influence or medicated. driving off the road and over center line real scary, I tried pulling her off with no luck, I kept flashing cars with headlights, alerting them , and finally sherrifs pulled along side her ,but they couldn't do any better, then the state tropper pulled out in back of her and rear ended her voyager and spun her 360 and finally got her to stop , Thank Goodness nobody got injured... What a thrill!!! give me a beer was the first thing when we arrived. spent that evening down in the cellar to the music of a duet singing couple Quite celtic, lot O fun. Had a great sunday fathers day at the Homestead Rancho Cueto.... Its so nice to spend the time with family , happy Fathers Day to All, CHEERS Pat....

Howdy , from Sisters
Yee Haa!!!! Started journey Friday with a little fishing at leaburg, grandson Garrett couldn't stand still for to long, went to fish hatchery to feed fish, and 8' sturgeon, Wow what a whopper!!! we had lunch and moved up river to Belknap, it was very nice and weather was great, had Andrea, and 7 other of her freinds arrive for short period ,Eat and run for the rodeo that evening, fed them and we went hot tubbing. We woke up next morning to yet another great morning drove up to parade in sisters, with a variety of fun things to see. Then did the rodeo, weather held up through that eve. until we got to Hoodoo, and then the skys unzipped to pouring rain, we got back to fine dinner, and said screw it with the rain and just went hot tubing, figured if we where going to get wet, might as well get real wet... Woke up sunday to overcast skys but eventually it broke up, to skattered clearing, it was real nice again by afternoon, so we heard that it was still wet in Eugene, so we decided to stay til early evening. Nancy has to go back this afternoon to retrieve her glasses she left in locker room, Thank goodness we have friend that works up there and she found them laying there ,wish we where going to stay there for the day, but oh well!! gots to work...
